Our dogs, Cyndal & Maggie, take you on a tour of the house we’ve been renovating for the past year and lay out our Home Depot wish list of things we still need to finish up the job.

We’re the REAL DEAL, true blue Do-it-Yourselfers!! We spend every Friday night at the Home Depot (lovingly referred to as “Date Night”) getting supplies for our weekend projects and getting ideas for more things we could do to the house. With the generous help and support of our family, including Mom & Dad, Gram & Gramp, and even our little niece Ava, we’ve accomplished a lot in a year. We basically gutted the house, made some major changes and then put it all back together from re-doing the electrical, plumbing, insulating, ductwork, drywall, flooring, roofing, siding, texture paint and the list goes on and on. It’s been a rewarding adventure full of wonderful memories spent with our family and a collection of home improvement experiences (good and bad) to last a lifetime.

But we still have a lot to do to complete our dream home and make this place warm and inviting to share with others.

A room off the master bedroom sits empty awaiting its destiny to become the MASTER BATHROOM, complete with a walk-in shower, double sinks, and all the accessories.

Our Kitchen and Dining room feel naked and cold and dream of one day having beautiful TILE WITH RADIANT HEATING to keep the place comfortable and warm for Cyndal and Maggie (our dogs).

The FIREPLACE sits atop its perch with no way to showcase its beauty. We need gas logs, pipes and connectors and STONE VENEER to complete the look.

Outside the house awaits a new FENCE for the dogs and LANDSCAPING all the way around to put the final touches on the hard work we did re-siding and painting the entire place.

And finally, A NEW GARAGE for my husband who gave up the small garage we had to build a laundry room during the remodel. I mean really, every guy needs a dream garage and I can’t think of anyone more deserving than my hard working man.

Oh yeah, and the girls would love a DOG HOUSE too! They did such a great job during the filming of this video that I think we can make sure it’s on the list.

We could go on about all the little things we still need to get throughout the house like window blinds throughout (hey neighbors- hope you’re enjoying the view while it lasts), light fixtures and fans (Dad wired up some bare bulbs in the rooms so we could live here) , office cabinets (we’re working on folding tables right now), and a new deck off the back of the house (it’s a mess and we had to cut it back to put on the siding so you have to take a LEAP of faith every time you go out the back door) BUT the video had to be under 2 minutes so we stuck to the main stuff.

There are a lot of great videos in this contest and many deserving families and it’s our wish that this Christmas all your dreams will come true. So keep up the great work everyone as we all do our part to better our communities and give life to our homes. It’s a rewarding endeavor and a contagious addition that keeps us going and it’s worth every minute in the end.
